I never would have known that there was a concept of what is called "Supper Swapping". I am learning different things in what started out as a newspaper article. Our local newspaper had an article on "Life with six children/Mother's blog is creating a stir". After reading this article, I decided I want to start this blog for my therapy. More on that in another blog.
Anyway, I visited this mom's blog and read about this supper swapping idea. I NEED THIS DESPERATELY. What a great idea. I had heard about cooking double meals and freezing one of them for another day, but when you do not have time to even cook one meal, this system did not work very well for us. We ended up eating the extra meal the next night. I somehow do not believe this is how the system was intended to be utilized.
As a mom to a total of six children that still live at home (five that are grown and gone). These are not all biologically mine, but have been mine for the past 14 years. I never would have known that I would live through the teenage years in my 20's, 30's, 40's, and 50's. I am insane. Oh, if that is not enough, I run a home daycare with five children under the age of 3. As you can see, I have a child up my ... all the time. Going to the grocery store by myself is a luxury.
I play chauffer to and from three different Girl Scouts troops (which I am a leader), volleyball practice and games for one child, boy scouts for another, work for two children. With all this, I only have between 2:00 am and 3:00 am to think about cooking for the crew. Since that is when I am working on trying to open a child care center, I tell my kids to "wing it" for dinner. This, in reality, means the younger children are fending for themselves.
So the idea of sharing the cooking load with three or four other moms sounds great. I cook on one night for the entire 3-4 families and they each cook a night for us. Yeah! I am going to get on the phone in a minute to round up some chefs. I will not be a bad mom (as far as dinners go) for much longer.
I would like to give my kudos to mom2my6pack.blogspot.com. Thanks a bunch. Your blog has created a huge timesaver concept. I never would have known without you.
